Jeanne has always painted. Her father, a commercial artist, kept her supplied with paper, brushes, and encouragement. She began her art education in Los Angeles, attending the Chouinard Art School after her high school graduation. She married at nineteen and began raising a family. Between children she attended art classes at Immaculate Heart College and studied oil painting with Tom McLaughlin. In 1974, after a move to Fallbrook, she resumed art studies at Palomar College, and joined a plein air painting class with Thelma Speed Houston. This began an interest that continues today. One of the founders of Brandon Gallery in 1977, Jeanne is still an active member, having just completed a year as Director in 2008. She leads the much-sought-after Monday Plein Air Painters in Fallbrook, has a devoted following, and is finding inspiration in her local surroundings and in painting vacations. |
