Elizabeth, a San Diego area artist and a native Californian, has been a professional artist for over 20 years. She earned a BA in Fine Arts and Humanities from San Diego State University with a teachers degree. She taught Art in the middle school for 10 years, before launching her own art career. Her watercolor paintings were shown by numerous local San Diego Galleries, and she also could be found at most of the areas juried outdoor festivals. Her painting style led art groups and societies to ask her to demonstrate and give workshops. Elizabeth moved to Fallbrook, Ca and became a member of the Brandon Gallery where her work is now.
After many years working in watercolor, Elizabeth became enamored with the plein air painters who worked in oil, with their focus on light and atmosphere, and she moved into painting with oils. From there she renewed her love for portraiture and figurative work in oil and watercolor/goache and began working also in mixed media. She carries her camera with her everywhere to catch a moment of light or a group of people in an interesting activity, and her subject matters are as diverse as whatever catches her eye.
"To be an artist is to be someone constantly on the lookout for a perfect moment to capture, it is to be dilligent in that purpose."
"At such times there is a song going on within us, a song to which we listen...we live in the memory of these songs ... they are the pinnacles of our experience and it is the desire to express these intimate sensations, this song from within, which motivate the masters of all art."
