Diane Adams works in a variety of media from printmaking to photography.  Her favorite is watercolor which she teaches at MiraCosta College. Though she grew up and lives in Oceanside, Diane and her husband love to spend time in the mountains, where she gets many of her ideas for her paintings. According to Diane, she sometimes feels like she should have a pseudonym because she likes to paint both non-representational and traditional realistic paintings.

Nature inspired, Diane’s pieces are filled with textures and rock, plant and water imagery. She paints on location and from the photographs she takes. For other paintings she uses memories of places visited and natural objects she has collected to develop her compositions. For the past five years, she has been mixing watercolors with pastels, pencil, acrylics and other media to get an ethereal, dreamlike effect in her watercolors.  She also likes to watercolor on plexi-glass to create a monoprints of the scenes she has hiked to in the Sierras.

Diane’s work has been included in such prestigious shows as the San Diego Watercolor Society International, San Diego Art Institute Annuals and the Cannon Gallery’s Premier Juried Exhibit.  She has won numerous awards in the Southern California Fine Arts Exhibits, the COAL, SDAI, Fallbrook, La Jolla Art Association annual exhibits and the San Diego Watercolor Society Exhibits.  Her paintings have been featured in the “San Diego Magazine”, the cover of the MiraCosta College Catalog and in “Artists of Southern California.”
